Navigator is the premium lighting brand born from over 40 years of hands-on experience in the electrical and lighting trade. It’s the result of everything we’ve learned at Quintex and Lampfix — two names known for stocking the hard-to-find, delivering on promises, and helping customers get the job done, fast.

How it started...

Navigator actually started in a small antiques shop by the Sussex coast, surrounded by a pile of broken glass.  Laurie (one of the owners) had been handed a charming lamp by the dealer to feel the weight of it, and somehow managed to drop it! 

Rather than just pay for the light and getting out before he broke anything else, some other vintage lights caught his eye, including some nautical-esque brass lights.  He bought those as well, the idea being to restore them to former glory and make some money out of his misfortune.  Armed with a box of lights he didn’t really want, and with considerably less cash in his wallet, he headed home.

The lights sat in Laurie's garage for a number of years, and whenever he was asked about when he was going to get on and restore them, he mumbled something about needing more time and energy and not having the right parts.   

It was his wife’s suggestion to fit two of the lights in their dining room, and after a few more months of encouragement, two vintage "porthole" lights were fitted.  The comments were nearly all favourable, and “where did you get those lights” was a question Laurie heard time and time again!   After sourcing similar lights for some friends, he decided that the lights were too good to keep to himself, and Navigator was born.  

What started as a pile of broken glass has now transformed into a “forever” range of solid-brass outdoor light fittings, designed to withstand whatever the British weather can throw at them!

Still family-run. Still keeping promises.

We haven’t stopped since 1975. From the van in Pinner to our warehouse in Hertfordshire, the core values remain: do what you say you will, treat customers properly, and never stop improving.
