It happens. Not many of us have time to regularly remove cobwebs and dust from outside lights, it takes long enough cleaning lights inside the house!
But when it really does get too bad, it's quick and easy to get your Navigator looking like new again.
- Turn off the light and make sure it's cooled down.
- Take a soft brush (ideally a brush from a dustpan and brush set) and gently brush the cobwebs away.
- Then wipe away any remaining grime using a slightly damp cloth.
- Take a cotton cloth and apply a small amount of oil, such as 3 in 1 or any other household oil and wipe over the brass areas of the light. This will remove the ingrained dirt and give your light fitting enhanced protection against the weather elements.
- Stand back and admire your work!
If you have a brass light that has gone darker, the oil will not reverse this. This is a natural result of the brass reacting with the oxygen in the air, effectively antiquing it.
